Care Guide

Janta Furniture uses premium Indian hardwoods and quality upholstery. With the right care, your furniture will age beautifully and last for generations. Here is how to maintain the beauty of your pieces.

Solid Wood Care (Sheesham, Teak, Walnut)

  • Dusting: Dust regularly using a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. Wipe in the direction of the wood grain.
  • Cleaning: For occasional deep cleaning, use a slightly damp cloth with mild soap and water. Dry immediately. Never use harsh chemical cleaners, ammonia, or silicone-based polishes as they will break down the natural finish.
  • Protection: Always use coasters and trivets under hot, cold, or damp objects. Do not place wood furniture directly next to radiators, heating vents, or in prolonged direct sunlight to prevent warping and fading.
  • Polishing: We recommend applying a high-quality beeswax or carnauba wax every 6 months to nourish the wood and maintain its luster.

Upholstery Care (Linen, Cotton, Blends)

  • Vacuuming: Vacuum weekly using an upholstery attachment to remove loose dirt and dust before it settles into the fibers.
  • Spills: Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry white cloth. Do not rub, as this pushes the stain deeper into the fabric.
  • Cleaning: For persistent stains, we recommend professional upholstery cleaning. Do not remove cushion covers for machine washing unless explicitly labeled as machine-washable.
  • Maintenance: Plump and rotate loose cushions regularly to ensure even wear. Keep fabrics out of direct sunlight to prevent fading.

Cane and Rattan Care

  • Keep rattan away from extreme heat and direct sunlight to prevent the fibers from drying out and snapping.
  • To clean, wipe with a damp cloth. You can occasionally use a soft brush attachment on your vacuum to remove dust from the crevices.
  • If the environment is very dry, wipe the cane gently with a damp sponge once a month to restore moisture.
